Welcome

Growing up on a working farm in mid-coast Maine in the 1960’s, gave me the perfect environment to appreciate living creatures and develop my love for animals. This love has never left me and I find my life is not complete without them. Hence I have a pasture filled with sheep, mini horses and chickens. From these scenes, I find much inspiration coming from either watching the animals in everyday poses or in their personalities.

At the present I am exploring how to capture these animals in different ways. I shoot an image of one of the animals, then it turns up as a digital giclee print, then I may do a papier mache , polymer sculpture or ceramic of the same animal.

Now I am incorporating recycled materials as part of the design. Often I collect sticks chewed by beavers on the beach, rusted metal objects that a weave in the designs. At the end of the day, I sit back an all these pieces make me smile.

My latest project started as a side line with my love of horses. I have spent several years photographing the local horse fairs in Co. Kerry Ireland. After having an exhibition in August 2011 during the Puck Fair, I saw a lot of interest in my work and I saw a need to record these precious moments at the fairs. Thus my next body of work will be creating a book to record this social event before it disappears.
